Bellydance Buffet
Sunday 30th June: Summer Fete
Charlotte Burton and Catherine Bartholomew invite you to enjoy some quaint summer festivities with your bellydance friends. This summer Bellydance Buffet blends the sunny feel of a traditional English country fair with our familiar bellydance favourites to create a warm and welcoming festival.
The day begins with two bellydance workshops:
11:30-12:30: Charlotte Burton’s Country Combos
Dance with your friends using these Black Sheep inspired combinations. Cross and loop, twist and swirl, creating pretty shapes that will enhance your dance. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those that have been dancing for some time and will look fabulous in flowing skirts as you swoop around each other.
1pm-2pm: Catherine Bartholomew’s Folky Formations
Peel off, Strip the Willow and Do-si-do as we whirl our way through some traditional English country dance formations and then use them as inspiration for a dynamic Mahmoud Reda style Egyptian folk dance.
We then have a short break before we begin our afternoon Hafla:
3pm-5pm: Hafla
A relaxed and sociable performance showcase with a loose summer fete theme. Come and show us what you’ve been working on or sit back and enjoy the show. Everyone is welcome! We’ll have some afternoon tea scones, cream and jam or bring your own picnic to enjoy with the tea & coffee provided.
There are performance slots available for groups and soloists who are welcome to put something related to the theme together or just share anything they have been working on. We love to see a variety!

Bellydance Buffet is a regular event in Medway to celebrate the local bellydance community and bring people together. It’s mission is to provide a welcoming and friendly space for people to socialise, share their passion for dance and have some fun! Every buffet is a bit different, using a variety of venues and having fresh themes and concepts to look forward to.
Performance spots are available for soloists, please email cat@sevenveils.co.uk to reserve your space.
There is a separate changing room for dancers, if arriving for the hafla only please use the side door so that you can come straight into the dressing room without waiting.
