Baby Progress

Baby Bartholomew Baby Bartholomew

Baby Bartholomew is doing very well so far. We had a second scan (22 weeks) last week which confirmed all is well with our little BOY!! He's growing very well with long legs and a nice round tummy and he's very active, performing a complete head to toe flip during the scan!

As for me, I'm still feeling very energetic and still enjoying the dancing, which has definitely helped me to control the weight gain. Costumes are getting a little tight now though!

Thanks to everyone who has passed on their congratulations and good wishes for the pregnancy. It's lovely to have so many well wishers and friends in the bellydance community.

Introducing Hasna Bellydance

Some of the ladies from Hasna Bellydance

The performance class that meets on a Thursday evening in Aylesford has now evolved into a fully fledged troupe called "Hasna Bellydance"! Hasna is Arabic for "Beautiful" and I hope you agree from the photos that the name is fitting!

On Saturday we had our first outing, performing at Napier School Fayre in Gillingham alongside the Tribal Banshees. The day was a real success with many comments from the audience on how professional our 1/2 hour set looked and how much they enjoyed the show. It was fantastic to have the Tribal Banshees with us, lead by local teacher Charlotte Burton, as they brought an elegant contrast to our pastel coloured and glitzy Egyptian set.

Hasna Bellydance with Tribal Banshees

Both Hasna Bellydance and the Tribal Banshees will be performing at the Hafla on the 5th July and I believe they're worth catching!

If you would like to join Hasna Bellydance please contact Catherine for more information. If you would like to join the Tribal Banshees please visit their MySpace page (WARNING: This link plays an audio file.) for more information and contact details.

Summer Hafla on 5th July

There are still a few performance slots available if anyone is brave enough to take to the stage at our Summer student party.

For those of you not ready to perform, we already have quite a varied show planned with group dances and solos from both students and local teachers. For only £6.50 it promises to be a great evening of entertainment!

I can also confirm that there will be a bazaar at the party provided by BellyWigglas (WARNING: This link plays an audio file.) who sell a selection of great value costumes and accessories for both bellydance and tribal dance.

For any of you coming from Sheppey there will be a minibus from the island to the Hafla. It will cost £6 return, or less if there are more than 10 on the bus. If you are interested in this service please contact Niki at Sheppey HLC by emailing niki@sheppeyhlc.org.uk or telephoning her on 01795 585 335.

The party will take place at the Aylesford Community Centre at 7:30pm and tickets will cost £6.50 (£5 conc) for audience members. Performers come for free but must pre-register for their performance slot.

There will be a bar open all evening and you are welcome to bring your own food. I hope you will join us for our summer celebration! Friends and family are also very welcome.

For more information please see the details in the email below or visit our website www.sevenveils.co.uk.

Ozgen's Course - Day Tickets available

Ozgen

There are now a very limited number of spaces left on the 5 week Turkish Bellydance course with Ozgen, including a few day passes for single sessions. The day pass costs £20 per two hour class and is a great way to participate if you will be away for some of the course.

Catherine's classes will be breaking for the holidays at the very beginning of July, so the course is a good way to keep dancing through the summer and to try out a different style of Bellydance.

For more information about the course and for online bookings please visit www.sevenveils.co.uk.

Summer Workshops in Sittingbourne

To fill the long two month break in classes this summer, Catherine will be teaching 3 workshops on Monday evenings in Sittingbourne.

The workshops will be technique based and will be held in the Sittingbourne Community College dance studio, which is a large, air conditioned and mirrored studio. Catherine will not be teaching workshops in either Aylesford or Strood this summer.

The workshops will take place from 7pm to 9pm on the 21st July, 4th August and 18th August and will cost £12. Advance booking is highly recommended.

Postal Mailing List

If you receive this newsletter, hopefully you are not also on the postal mailing list. If you do still receive flyers through the post from me occasionally, please can you let me know and I will remove you from the postal list.

As you know, postage costs increased in April and it has now got to the point where it costs me so much to send out to the 300+ names on the postal list that the chances of getting a large enough response from this advertising to cover the cost of it are very small. This also has an impact on the prices for my events, as I have to take into account the cost of doing a mail out when setting ticket prices.

I have decided to stop the postal mailing list, except for larger scale events. This means that there will be some people without email accounts that won't be getting the information about events that they want. This is where you come in.

If you have any friends that you know would like to receive this information but don't have computer access, please can you print this Newsletter for them?

Also, if you have friends with email who might be interested in our information you can now use our new Forward to a Friend link at the top of each Newsletter.

Johara Dance Mailing List

Johara Dance

Johara Dance now have their own mailing list, also managed by Catherine. The emails sent out on this mailing list will be less frequent and only when new information is available about Johara Dance and their upcoming theatre tour.

To join the Johara Dance mailing list please complete the form at
